The most common dieting mistakes people make are also the easiest to avoid…! But… that’s not the case for everyone, apparently!
If, like me, dieting has become a real part of your life: welcome to my article!
I’m going to tell you what not to do. I’ve always been on a diet (a long time ago) and I really didn’t know what was going wrong. Yet I was sticking to the guidelines, doing everything I was told to do… until I finally realized that I was making these 8 dieting mistakes to lose weight!
Take the time to read and tell us if you too are not succeeding with your diet because of these mistakes.
Diet or no diet… you’ll never lose weight if you don’t exercise!
Exercise helps burn excess calories and build muscle. Start slowly and work up to a routine that works for you.
Many people (especially women!) put too much trust in their scales. They tend to have blind faith in the numbers on the scale!
You forget, ladies and gentlemen, that our weight can vary throughout the day. Eating, drinking, going to the toilet, sweating… are all elements that influence our weight. For women especially, weight often changes during the month due to the well-known hormonal activity (this is not the case for us men).
Weight gain can happen just before your period, for example. Instead of focusing on the numbers, think about the changes you feel in your body.
This is probably the biggest mistake you can make! Our body NEEDS breakfast to get off to a good start, and if you think skipping it will cost you pounds off, you’re wrong.
When we wake up in the morning, our poor body will have fasted for at least 12 hours: it needs to recharge its batteries to function properly! If you eat a decent breakfast, you won’t overeat at lunch!
Here’s another mistake that can cost you dearly. No need to remind you: our bodies need to eat to function properly.
It’s all about calories!
Eating less than 1000 calories a day can cause health problems, and the explanation is simple: when the body doesn’t get enough calories, it feeds “from within” on muscle and fat stores (we’re talking about necessary fat stores, not surplus ones!), and this can simply ruin your metabolism.
It’s all very well trusting food labels: they can tell you a lot about the calorie content of each food, of course. But it’s up to us to control what we eat.
We can easily ingest double, or even triple, what we should normally consume. And this will inevitably ruin any dieting efforts.
Conflict at work, children putting pressure on you, anxiety over financial calculations that aren’t going well… so many stress factors that can easily lead you to overeat. Hop, a packet of potato chips and you’re off on a food binge! Try as hard as you can not to fall into this trap, and ask yourself every time you eat:
Am I eating because I’m hungry? Or because I’m just stressed?
This will give you something else to vent your frustrations about… why not sport?
If sleep is vital for human beings, it’s also very important for losing weight!
Your dieting efforts will go to waste if you don’t plan to get enough sleep. And let’s not forget: nothing beats sleeping AT NIGHT, as naturally as possible!
If you’re in the middle of a diet, think about your sleep and organize it as you do your meals.
If you’re one of those people who thinks diet pills don’t work, think again!
There are 100% effective diet pills that can help you achieve your slimming goals, if you know how to use them. Remember, these “pills” are dietary supplements designed to fit into healthy, well (re)balanced diets… not deprivation!
In compiling this list of 8 dieting mistakes to lose weight, I realized how easy it is to fall into the trap. Most of us tend to blame dieting for losing weight and end up forgetting our own mistakes. If you too recognize yourself in some of the mistakes listed here, tell us more!
